Sea wolves: romantic profession or hard work? The most romantic professions Military, firefighters, passenger aircraft pilots

There is a whole list of male professions whose representatives evoke romantic fantasies in women. Knowing this feature, it is often used by the creators of films in the “18+” category. Brave firefighters, athletic and fit ski instructors, secret agents risking their lives every day - these heroes ensure the success of such films. Psychologists explain everything very simply.

Psychologists' opinion

Over many centuries of evolution, both men and women have learned to recognize the traits of the most “quality” partner for procreation. The same thing happens in the wild. The male accurately identifies a sexually mature, healthy female, ready for reproduction. Male tournaments during the rutting period give females the opportunity to select a strong and hardy male with the healthiest genes for breeding.

It's exactly the same with people. Men find desirable young, well-built girls with clear skin, thick shiny hair and a healthy psyche, which is reflected in a woman's self-confidence, positive attitude and pleasant character. All these are signs of good genetics. A lady with such data is capable of producing healthy, viable offspring.

This is incredibly exciting for men because it disinhibits their sexual function. The appearance of such a sexual partner on the horizon (that is, within reach) literally provokes the release of a fair amount of sex hormones into their blood. It’s as if a light bulb comes on: “In front of us is a healthy female, ready to mate, we can’t miss the chance.”

It's exactly the same for women. Only for ladies, slightly different selection criteria are important. The sexual partner should be well built: muscular, tall, slender, with good body proportions. At the same time, he must demonstrate “male” qualities: the ability to dominate in the “pack” and the willingness to fight for offspring if the need arises. A man must be brave and decisive.

If in the Middle Ages gentlemen could demonstrate these qualities in knightly tournaments, then in modern society they do not have many opportunities to prove their courage. And yet they exist: military service, victories in sports matches, work associated with risk. It’s rare that a lady can resist such “arguments.” What are the most exciting male professions?

Military, firefighters, airline pilots

In the first places of the sexiest male professions are firefighters (EMERCOM workers) and the military. These are courageous people who are not afraid of anything. From the point of view of female psychology - ideal males. The uniform makes representatives of such professions especially attractive. The military uniform, in addition to favorably emphasizing the physique, is a marker of the courage and fearlessness of such men, as well as their high responsibility.

A woman subconsciously wants to trust such men, to put her life and, of course, her body into his hands.

Secret agents

Intelligence agents are very sexually attractive. This is generally a special, privileged caste of men. A high level of intellectual development, exceptional skills and ability to survive, excellent physical data, work associated with constant risk to life and the romance of dangerous adventures - all these factors act on women like hypnosis.

Athletes

Athletes also have physical attractiveness, and therefore physical attractiveness. Ladies especially like athletes with whom they can have direct contact. These are all kinds of scuba diving instructors, fitness trainers, ski instructors, etc.

A woman, being close to such a strong, athletic, muscular male, becomes captive of his pheromones. She is literally at the level of instincts ready for mating and reproduction. This is why married ladies often cheat on their husbands with their yoga, fitness, etc. trainers.

The most romantic professions

We suggest taking a little break from serious topics and talking about the most romantic professions. Thinking about which profession, do you smile mysteriously and think: “God, how romantic!”? Let's remember together!

STEWARDESS. He is the face of the aviation company, which, of course, must be beautiful and attractive, then it is much easier to trust him with life.

JOURNALIST. There are not many professions on earth that seem so romantic, exciting, adventurous and full of high creativity. Adventure novels are written and films are made about representatives of this craft. Journalism is an incredibly interesting profession.

TOURISM MANAGER. Working in tourism is full of the romance of travel. This profession has its advantages in terms of broadening one’s horizons, interesting communication and the opportunity to see the world.

SCOUT. Who among us did not dream of becoming a spy as a child, carrying out secret missions like James Bond and getting out of the most unimaginable situations? As for knowledge and talents, in this sense intelligence officers really have a lot in common with superheroes from films.

ARCHAEOLOGIST. In most cases, representatives of this profession are called treasure hunters and romantics, and their work responsibilities boil down to traveling on expeditions in search of ancient treasures and antiques. Without a sufficient amount of adventurism, fanaticism and love of history, people do not come to archeology.

DESIGNER. In what areas of art do designers not work: clothing, interiors, gardens, cars and much more! It is designers who come up with the “look” of cars and household appliances, shoes and clothing, cottages and skyscrapers, etc. Designers become creative people who feel dynamics, nature, and light. Figuratively speaking, a designer is at the same time a director, an actor, and, to some extent, a psychologist.

FASHION DESIGNER. An enviable profession, at its peak - fashion weeks in New York and Paris, hanging out with celebrities and photo shoots in glamor magazines.

ART CRITIC. The regulations oblige representatives of this profession to correspond to the subject of their activity, so art critics are often dressed tastefully, gracefully and generally look artistic. Women art historians are given a special charm by their sparkling eyes about their favorite masters or eras of art and their broad erudition.

ACTOR. This profession portends fame and a stellar career for its owners. Most of them work in theaters with talented directors, star in interesting films, try on different roles and destinies.

ARTIST. Surely, each of you will admire the beautiful image of a miniature girl with a huge easel, thin hands and clear eyes. Artists are different: some design the stage in the theatre, others prepare stage costumes, others design textiles and interiors, others are engaged in graphics, restoration and painting. And finally, the most romantic profession, in my opinion, is

FILM DIRECTOR. That's who really leads the parade of arts. Representatives of this profession have a pass to the holy of holies - the world of art. Agree, what could be more romantic than the opportunity to control human destinies and create small worlds under the loud name CINEMA! Of course, each of these professions has its pitfalls, routine and everyday life, but this does not stop them from being romantic in our eyes. Isn't it true?

Based on materials from ljob.ru

There are no “just sailors”. There are many professions in demand by shipowners. Marine vessels are also used by many industries. Liquefied gas is transported on gas carriers. Dangerous chemical cargoes are carried on chemical tankers. Cars are carried on car carriers, and on sea ferries there are sometimes entire train sets. Animals - on sheep carriers. There are fishing boats. There are cargoes that can be combined - there are general cargo ships for this purpose. Bulk cargo (grain, coal, ore) is transported on bulk carriers, perishable cargo (fruit, meat, fish) on refrigerators, liquid cargo (oil, water, wine) on tankers, containers on container ships.

Finally, passenger ships carry passengers, such as tourists.

Does all this mean that there should be chemists, automotive engineers, biologists, or guides on board?

The main thing here is that the crew of any ship traditionally has the same structure. It is divided into two main services - deck and engine.

The captain heads the crew and deck service, which includes officers - senior, second, third, fourth mates, as well as enlisted personnel - boatswain, sailors, cooks and waiters. Some ships have radio operators and doctors. Many additional specialists work on passenger ships. The crew of a passenger ship can reach one and a half thousand people.

The deck crew prepares cargo holds and deck mechanisms for operation - greasing, cleaning, painting. Deck officers plot the course on charts, check equipment, train the crew, maintain a running watch at sea and supervise the loading of the ship in port.

The engine service is headed by a senior mechanic, to whom subordinate officers are the second, third, fourth, system mechanics, electrician, refrigerator mechanic, as well as the rank and file - mechanics, cleaners, welders, turners.

The engine team maintains the entire complex of engine room mechanisms in working order. Marine engineers deal with a variety of mechanisms and systems for various purposes. Ships use almost all existing types of engines and even nuclear reactors. Every year new and new technical solutions appear in the field of ship power plants. By the way, the unique knowledge and experience of marine engineers may be in demand in other areas of industry.

At the bottom

Robots can also be sailors. Or more precisely, underwater robotic machines controlled from the surface of the water. To get them to work, special geophysical vessels explore, square by square, the seabed and everything that lies underneath, in search of more and more oil deposits - the main source of energy on the planet.

Recently, the amount of oil produced from not too deep and fairly old wells has been decreasing. And new deposits are located at great depths. For example, a well was drilled off the coast of Brazil at a depth of 2300 m. To develop such deposits, ships with absolutely fantastic equipment are required, because it is impossible to anchor a drilling platform in such conditions. What to do? Ships and giant floating platforms have appeared, controlled using satellite navigation systems, due to the operation of which the platform is held in place.

Tugs deliver to sites and install new platforms that extract oil and gas at sea. Sometimes huge platforms are towed across oceans. Supply vessels deliver equipment, cement, fuel, water, and food to the platforms day and night. Divers monitor the condition of pipelines and platforms. And control in places inaccessible to humans is already the prerogative of robots.

So, drilling ships drill holes in the seabed. By the way, they are looking for not only oil in the ocean, but even diamonds.

There are also ships that lay pipelines and cables in the ocean, connecting the continents with each other.

How to become a sailor: getting an education

To become a sailor or motor mechanic, it is enough to complete a one-year nautical course. Its graduates usually end up working on Russian ships. Those wishing to work under a foreign flag must have satisfactory knowledge of English and work experience.

Those who decide to become a naval officer enroll in higher nautical educational institutions, where they study, gaining work experience during practice. There are also correspondence departments where already working sailors study. Graduates of maritime universities have every chance of getting a job directly in a foreign company.

Ship owners around the world are subject to the same requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), including in the field of personnel training. Therefore, each maritime educational institution must comply not only with national, but also international requirements. Accordingly, a document on education obtained at such an educational institution is automatically recognized by all countries of the world and is published in English by the Russian Maritime Administration.

A medical commission and a psychological test are the first things an applicant to a maritime educational institution encounters. An annual medical examination will accompany the successful candidate throughout his sea life. There are no sailors in poor health at sea: not a single doctor will take on such responsibility - to release a sick person on a voyage.

A sailor must be able to swim. How good? You need to be able to swim so that you can swim yourself and tow your unconscious comrade. Every five years this is checked, and the time it takes to swim across the pool is recorded.

The high cost of training is also a distinctive feature of a maritime educational institution. It is difficult to say whether this is a payment for the high quality of knowledge or for the opportunity to receive relatively good money in the future. However, traditionally there are also budget branches.

The organization of the educational process of daytime departments of maritime educational institutions implies downright military order. Discipline and a high level of professionalism are the two things that are required to work successfully in difficult and sometimes even critical environments.

Sailors cannot be irresponsible: they have been entrusted with too much. The cost of a modern container ship sometimes reaches 30-50 million dollars, and this does not include the cost of cargo. The crew of this vessel is 25 people. The passenger airliner can accommodate 3 thousand passengers. A large-tonnage tanker can carry 500 thousand tons of oil or a more dangerous substance on board. Is it worth talking about what the level of training of specialists should be to guarantee the safety of human life, the environment and the safety of the vessel?

When there are 5 thousand meters of water under the keel, a full week to the shore ahead, the same distance to the shore behind, a fire breaks out on board, and there is no way to count on help, an accidental sleep of a mechanic on watch can cost the life of every crew member. And if some inexperienced fourth officer does not know enough English, he will not be able to correctly understand the text of the received warning about navigation danger.

English is studied in depth in maritime educational institutions: this language is recognized as the international language in the fleet. All documents are drawn up in English, radio conversations are conducted, and communication takes place in mixed crews recruited in different countries.

Work at sea is traditionally considered a man's job. And yet, what positions can girls who want to receive a maritime education on an equal basis with men expect to get in the future? Traditionally, this is a barmaid, a cook, an orderly (cleaning lady), but it can also be, for example, a navigator. It is more realistic for a woman to become a captain than an engineer, and in general she would rather only undergo internship on a ship as a cadet than remain working for a long time: the loads are too great. Much more often, a woman with a maritime education can be found in the office of a stevedoring (berth owning) company, a coastal ship servicing agency, as well as in a crewing company - such companies will be discussed below. There are also many women shipbuilders who design and build ships, but they graduate from another educational institution - shipbuilding, and not directly from the maritime one.

Employment of seafarers

The selection of personnel for the shipowner and the preparation of documents for the seafarer to board the ship are most often carried out by crewing companies - intermediaries between the shipowner and the seafarer, located throughout the world. Contact with them is maintained by telephone and email.

One of the most important documents is the maritime identity card. The shipowner organizes and pays for the seafarer to receive such documents, as well as for the seafarer’s flight to the ship and his return home.

How to get a job on a ship operating under a foreign flag? A seafarer does not have to appear for an interview in another country: everything is done over the phone. But in order to obtain a license from the flag country for the right to work, candidates for a place on a ship sometimes have to fly and take exam in English to the country issuing the document.

At first, when there is not enough work experience, crewing companies offer contracts lasting up to 9-10 months. Sometimes the shipowner enters into a permanent contract with the seaman. In foreign companies, seafarers most often work on temporary contracts.

European and American companies offer higher salaries to experienced sailors. The salary of a Russian senior mechanic, for example, can be $500 per day for a contract duration of 6 weeks. On the same ship, the salary of an assistant cook from Nepal is only $200 per month with a contract duration of 2 years. By the way, nutritious meals on board are also provided to the sailor at the expense of the shipowner.

In a sense, the seaman does not choose where to work, because the same ship can transport cargo both between several specific ports according to a predetermined schedule (this is called liner shipping or line work), and between different ports, changing at each new cargo (this is called tramp shipping, from the English word tramp - tramp).

Work and rest

A sailor is more a way of life than a profession. A person who begins a maritime career becomes truly dependent on it. Romantics, before entering the service of the lord of the seas, need to think carefully about what they are sacrificing. Be clear about the specifics of this work so that there are no unpleasant surprises in the future.

Often in the crew, besides you, there is not a single person who speaks Russian. It is not always possible to call home. At sea there are no Saturdays and Sundays, no holidays. In order to reduce costs, it is profitable for shipowners to reduce the number of crew and shift all the labor onto the shoulders of the remaining sailors.

People on the ship work according to the “6 hours of work - 6 hours of rest” schedule. However, rest is a relative concept. Pitching, strong electromagnetic fields, limited space, 45-60°C on deck and in the engine room, high noise level, feeling of engine vibration, smells of fuel and numerous toxic substances, constant change of time zones, food stored on board sometimes for a month , water obtained from distillate or from an unverified source from the shore - here is a short list of the “charms” of this work. You must have very good health and immunity in order to confidently work on a ship under conditions of long (sometimes more than a month) ocean crossings and the absence of a doctor. There are such concepts as restoration of the body, rehabilitation. If an overworked sailor is not given time to rest, fatigue turns into illness. And the disease is in its chronic stage.

It is similar in psychological terms: nine months of life, far from ordinary earthly existence, leave a strong imprint on character and thinking. When this repeats from year to year with short breaks of 2-3 months, the person can be practically unrecognizable.

In the UK, for example, there is a law according to which a sailor who has returned from a voyage of more than three and a half months is not allowed to participate in elections until the end of the rest period.

You should also remember: work on either a permanent or temporary contract is not included in a seaman’s length of service in Russia. According to existing Russian laws, Russian citizens who have been abroad for more than 183 days are even exempt from paying taxes.

Oddly enough, a sailor who has worked at sea for several months is considered... unemployed. A person who has been bringing profit to the country for years in the form of imported currency simply does not have the right to receive a pension based on his work experience, since he was officially unemployed. In case of loss of health, the sailor will actually become unemployed, since the medical commission will recognize him as unfit, and there will be no compensation from the state.

On the shore

Modern ships and transport systems are designed to minimize the downtime of expensive vessels in ports. For example, a tanker of any size must unload in no more than 12 hours. The parking of a container ship at the port is a matter of hours. The trend is that it is increasingly difficult for the crew to be able to go ashore for rest.

But even on the shore a sailor faces many dangers. As a rule, he steps on solid ground after the end of the working day - in the evening and at night. At this time, the port areas are teeming with lovers of easy money. The local police, even if they appear, usually do not protect the interests of the foreigner, but rather, they themselves will not refuse to participate in the process of acquiring material assets.

In recent years, incidents of piracy and kidnapping have increased, even in Europe. However, it is prohibited to issue weapons to crews. A fire extinguishing hose is all the defensive arsenal a ship has.

A significant part of the planet’s territory is located in the tropical zone, where unusual diseases lie in wait for sailors - for example, malaria. Local bacteria do not have the same effect on the inhabitants of the country as on its guests.

What about your native shore?

The psychology of a person who has sailed the oceans for years is changing. Homesickness disappears, the world becomes so familiar that the concept of attachment to a particular area disappears. A person begins to believe that he has the right to choose any country to live. Many do this due to some personal circumstances - they start families and live in different parts of our beautiful planet. Moreover, sometimes they are no longer welcome at home: it is no secret that not everyone is able to wait for sailors for a long time.

It can be difficult for coastal acquaintances and even relatives to understand someone who lives at sea. Returning to his homeland, the wanderer each time finds himself in a new world to which he needs to adapt again. It is difficult for him to adapt to the already alien, forgotten rhythm of coastal life. The result is loneliness: those who can understand a sailor are mostly sailors, and sailors, as usual, are at sea. Sometimes friends can't meet for years.

And yet, even in the intervals between voyages, the sailor continues to live by the sea. He misses the ocean space, azure water, fresh wind, new countries. According to a clear and established way of life, in which everyone is useful and necessary.

We all want to be proud of our men. When imagining your future chosen one, sometimes you really want him to have some romantic and incredibly sexy profession. Agree, the phrase: “My boyfriend is a test pilot” sounds much more intriguing than, for example, “My boyfriend works as a pumping equipment engineer.” But, as you know, in reality, dreams are not always as romantic as they initially seem, and professions that are attractive at first glance can actually cause a lot of inconvenience.

We present to your attention the 10 sexiest male professions that women dream about.

1. Airplane pilot

Expectations: What do we know about pilots? They have tremendous endurance, good health and are able to conquer not only women’s hearts, but also the surface of the sky. Before becoming a pilot, the man studied for a long time, played sports, trained and led a healthy lifestyle, and this characterizes him as a responsible, serious and purposeful person. In addition, pilots visit Duty Free more often than others, which means they can delight their loved ones with interesting gifts.

Reality: When you wake up, your pilot husband is just returning home. He gets so tired that he goes to bed after barely taking a shower. He has an irregular work schedule, so you don't have to hope for romantic weekends or family trips. Due to enormous physical and psychological stress, he wants to be in peace and quiet most of his free time, and he is unlikely to be happy with your desire to go to a party or disco. Plus, you might not like the fact that your husband works shoulder to shoulder with pretty flight attendants.

2. DJ

Expectations: He is the “life of the party”, the conqueror of girls’ hearts and the king of the dance floor. A few slight movements on the turntable are enough and the crowd freezes in ecstasy, elevating him to the pedestal of greatness. His charisma is worshiped by millions, and you are the envy of all the girls in the area.

Reality: A male DJ is always in the spotlight and is surrounded by hundreds of fans, one of whom may turn out to be younger, prettier and more in love with you. His work is associated with entertainment, fun and joy, which will certainly leave an imprint on habits and lifestyle. Instead of quiet family happiness and creating home comfort, he will offer you an unlimited pass to a nightclub, where he, of course, feels like a star and king of nightlife. In addition, after taking off their headphones and moving away from the console, many DJs incredibly lose their charisma.

3. Psychologist

Expectations: He is polite, tactful and attentive. A male psychologist is so smart that you can talk to him on literally any topic. However, you don’t even have to say anything, because your personal Freud knows better than anyone else all the secret corners of your soul. In addition, if your chosen one is a professional psychologist, you can get wise advice from him at any time.

Reality: You are like a read book to him. Even in the smallest lies or mood swings, your chosen one will see a deep hidden meaning. Due to his professional characteristics, a male psychologist looks at the world from the angle of ego, super-ego and terrible children's complexes. Therefore, do not be surprised once you hear from your husband that you wear boyfriend jeans not because it is fashionable and comfortable, but because subconsciously you are afraid of your femininity.

4. Surgeon

Expectations: He is a real Doctor House - an intelligent, selfless hero who literally brings people back from the dead. Patients thank him, colleagues admire him, and you are proud of your husband and his very useful profession. And as a small bonus: you don’t have to be afraid of doctors, because your chosen one will provide you with free medical care at any time.

Reality: He has a very nervous, hard and responsible job. Your husband does not belong to himself and, even more so, does not belong to you, because saving lives is much more important than rest or household concerns. His life is built around patients, reports, consultations and interns. And if one day he fails to bring the patient back to life, instead of gratitude and satisfaction, he will be faced with a feeling of guilt and a severe mental crisis.

5. Successful businessman

Expectations: Your husband is a rich, purposeful and responsible businessman, what could be better? Just imagine, he owns a large automobile concern or an oil business, or maybe he follows the path of Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerberg? Then very soon the name of your chosen one will appear on the list of the richest people in the world from Forbes magazine, and you will begin to be invited to a TV show to interview the wife of a successful and respected entrepreneur.

Reality: One day big money will cease to be a goal for him and will turn into the meaning of life. Luxury, glamour, business and profit will destroy his previous values, radically changing his character. Often big businessmen look at the world through the prism of their own benefit, and you will have to meet his new criteria.

6. Lawyer

Expectations: He has eloquence, talent and deep erudition. A lawyer is a real hero of our time, because... he has to protect people before a cruel and not always fair law. You admire your husband, because one word from him is enough to put the judge in his place and bring dangerous criminals to light.

Reality: Who said that a lawyer only defends respectable and innocent people? Your husband's clients may be financial schemers, scammers and even dangerous criminals, and he will still have to act in their interests. In addition, you will never be able to out-argue your chosen one and prove to him that you are right, because he will find dozens of more convincing counter-arguments to your arguments.

7. Football player

Expectations: He is the second David Beckham - millions worship him, crowds of fans fall in love with him, his name is printed on T-shirts, he is asked for autographs and every football club dreams of him. But only you can enjoy his athletic beauty and charm every night. And, importantly, athletes monitor their health, so you will never see his beer belly or wince from the bitter cigarette smell.

Reality: Crowds of fans are not as romantic as it seems at first glance. They follow him everywhere, give him gifts, shower him with letters, keep watch around the house and quietly hate you. If he does become a successful football player, an innocent trip to the bakery could turn into an escape from the paparazzi. In addition, forget about a quiet lifestyle, because from time to time your famous athlete will be bought up by various football clubs, and you will have to travel all over the world for him.

8. Plastic surgeon

Expectations: A husband who works as a plastic surgeon is not only romantic, but also incredibly rewarding. Just imagine - like a real Pygmalion, he will be able to rid you of all your shortcomings, giving you beauty and youth! And as a bonus: your family will not be affected by financial problems, because the profession of a plastic surgeon is one of the highest paid in the world.

Reality: Are you really ready for your husband to perceive female beauty not from the point of view of a man, but from the point of view of a creator? Then get ready that he will notice the first wrinkles and signs of aging before you, and will probably offer to get rid of them with a lift, Botox or surgery.

9. Policeman

Expectations: He is strong, brave and courageous. One look from him is enough for the criminals to understand that resistance is pointless. In addition, he wears a beautiful uniform and can protect you in any situation.

Reality: He has a very dangerous job. Sometimes police officers not only monitor public order and catch petty hooligans, but also confront armed repeat offenders. Your husband may make a lot of enemies for himself, which means you will also be at risk. In addition, such physically and psychologically difficult work often turns people into cynics.

10. Fitness instructor

Expectations: He is a real handsome guy! Understands the importance of a healthy lifestyle, monitors her diet and devotes her free time to active recreation. You won’t be bored with him, because he will plan your schedule so as to fit in morning jogging, swimming, and mountain hiking. And one more pleasant advantage - he will be able to develop an individual training plan for you and will give you a lifetime membership to the gym.

Reality: Forget about buns, cakes and chocolate! He will calculate the calorie content of your diet and, deciding that you have “too much,” will force you to run dozens of laps at the nearest stadium. If you gain even a couple of kilograms, it will not go unnoticed by his professional eye and, most likely, will be criticized. If you still think the profession of a fitness instructor is romantic and sexy, remember that at work your chosen one will be surrounded by many beauties with model parameters.

Despite the fact that a profession really leaves its mark on a person’s character and habits, you should not choose a chosen one based solely on his activities. Think about it, maybe you will be the one to meet a romantic policeman or a good-natured multimillionaire who will make you the happiest woman on earth.

The most romantic profession in the world. August 23rd, 2011

It is believed that to become a gondolier you need two things: you must be born in Venice, and you must be a man.

2.

In fact, this is not entirely true. In 2007, Alexandra Hai from Germany won her right to work as a gondolier through the courts (although it took her about 10 years to achieve this). Today there are only two female gondoliers in Venice.

3.

The license to work as a gondolier is for life. In the event of the gondolier's death, the license is transferred to the legal heir, who, in turn, has the right to sell it.

4.

The cost of this license can be quite high, given the fact that the gondolier profession is one of the highest paid in Venice. The average income of a gondolier is about $150,000 per year.

5.

And this is not surprising, the average working day of a gondolier is 15 hours. The cost of the trip is 90 euros, for 30 minutes. Of this money, the gondolier gets about 20 euros.

6.

It is interesting to note the fact that the number of Venetian gondoliers (425) is constant. It does not change either in the event of the gondolier's retirement, or in the event of death, or in any other way.

7.

The right to become a gondolier is granted to a candidate who receives a license + passes a special exam with dignity.

8.

Despite the fairly high cost of gondolas ($30,000 - $100,000), as well as the nine-month courses, there are quite a lot of people interested.

9.

As for the exam, it consists of theory and practice. It is not difficult to guess that a potential candidate must be able to operate a gondola correctly. But this is not enough, the gondolier must know the history of Venice well, be a good speaker, and have a good voice, which is necessary to sing songs.

10.

Of course, the performance of any song (barcarolle) is not included in the price of the gondola ride. Here you need to negotiate directly with the gondolier himself. And it can be quite expensive.

11.

The most popular aria is perhaps "O sole Mio".
For an additional fee, you can hear something from the work of “Deep Purple” or “ACDC”. It's a question of price.

12.

Gondoliers have a specific dress code: a straw hat with a blue or red stripe and a striped T-shirt. Sometimes gondoliers wear a white shirt over a striped one. If the dress code is not followed, the gondolier may lose his license. This norm is enshrined in law.

13.

What is a gondola?

The Gandola is a traditional Venetian rowing boat. Its dimensions are quite impressive: 11 meters in length and 1 meter 40 centimeters in width.

14.

15.

Surprisingly, but true, the gondola has an asymmetrical shape, the length of the left side is 140 centimeters longer than the right. The weight of the gondola is about 400 kilograms.

16.

17.

The gondolier himself, while the boat is moving, is located in its rear part, and in order for the gondola to be stable, an iron knob (ferro) is installed on its front part. This knob also serves as a kind of guideline by which you can determine, for example, the height of the bridge.

18.

19.

In order to control the gondola, the gondolier uses a special long oar, which is always on one side. The oar also functions as a rudder. You can guess how difficult it is to control the gondola.

20.

21.

Every first Sunday in September, the famous Regata Storica takes place in Venice. Before the competition there is a gondola parade. The race distance is 7 kilometers. These competitions are very prestigious, so each island and district of Venice considers it their duty to exhibit their gondolas with their gondoliers.
